I am here to tell you that You haven't experienced or enjoyed any of your summers... if you haven't had this Smoothie, it’s like summer, but in a cup. Recently, a friend and I went to a birthday party and the host had a smoothie bar, along with veggie burgers and hot dogs around a stunning fire pit she and her husband made. One of the greatest birthday parties, I ever attended.
Of course, I was chosen to create smoothie recipes, so I made up a couple different versions and wrote them on index cards for the other guests to follow and make their own. This recipe was the one of them and became the favorite. I'm sure, if you like berries, citrus and creamy -sweet smoothies this recipe will become your favorite as well.
It begins with bananas and lots of raspberries which makes a creamy, and thick base that gives it a tart-sweet contrast. Next you add passionfruit to create a perfect blend of creamy, sweet and tart.
This Raspberry, Banana and Passionfruit Smoothie really is like having summer in a cup. Wondering what it tastes like? I can't really tell you exactly what it tastes like, but imagine...
Tart, but not too tart;
Not to mention the fact, that Raspberries have the highest amount of dietary fiber, manganese, and vitamin C. One cup of raspberries alone meets 50% of a person's daily need of 30% of dietary fiber and vitamin C. This pink colored raspberry banana smoothie is a pearl that's filled with healthy benefits.
The passion fruits have their healthy benefits as well. They contain dietary fiber, potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C, although they aren't as nutritious as many of your other fruits that are the same size. They also have little black seed pods inside that are really juicy. However, they are tart and have a similar flavor to guavas, lemons, and pineapples.
Here's a couple little fun facts about passion fruits for you... they're grown in warm climates like Australia, California, Florida, Hawaii, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. And even though, they're not the prettiest of fruits... they're absolutely delicious and have a great tasting flavor in green smoothie recipes.
I've gotta be honest with you... out of all the smoothies that I have made (there’s tons), this one is absolutely one of my favorites! Of course, if you like... you can add some greens for a little more nutrition or silken tofu for a hike in protein.
